Treatment and aftercare

Hello,

Just writing as I'm due to have lletz treatment under general anaesthetic before 4th may. I had a scan of ovaries etc, not been given results. Just been told treatment for my CIN 2 needs to be done by 4th may. Is this normal?

Also, whats everyones recovery been like after treatment? Was you able to go back to work next day? Could you take a bath as I only have a bath tub.

Also, wasnt sure if anyone has had the treatment but needed to have it repeated? Or whether its returned quickly?

Also, sorry for all the questions. But, has anyone successfully had a child after? They advised me I will be at higher risk or miscarriage or no pregnancy after treatment. Which I'm already at high risk due to being rhesus negative and lrevious complications in first pregnancy.

Hi chscharlie,

I had a lletz under general anaesthetic last week so I will answer your questions from my experience but I realise that it may be different for you.

Personally I would say two days off work following the procedure would be good. I was in a fair bit of pain which eased off after two days. I was also very tired following the procedure and think two days of rest is a good idea.

I was advised not to have a bath following the procedure. I can't remember if it was 2 weeks or 4 weeks of no baths but definitely the advice is to shower.

This was my second lletz because the first didn't get clear margins. I was told that there was about a 90% success rate but that there was a small possiblity that the cell changes would return. The doctors believe that the treatment itself triggers an immune response in the patient which means that you are likely to clear the underlying infection following the treatment. Fingers crossed we both kick the virus out after the treatment!

I was told that with one lletz you are unlikely to have any issues with future pregnancies however as I had two that there was an increased risk of pre-term labour. They advised me to consult with the team prior to planning a pregnancy so that I could be referred to the specialist clinic. They seemed pretty confident that it would be fine with extra monitoring

Good luck with your procedure,

xx

Hi just wondering if you could give me some information on swimming, hot tub etc after a colposcopy?

Hi

I just put a post up about this give it a read. It's no swimming (including a hot tub), sex or tampons.

I had my lletz today under GA and I have no pain or bleeding, I just think everyone is different. I still can't believe I've had it done I feel nothing but period pain slightly (I'm due on)

As for babies after, we will be trying later in the year. I know there is risks but my best friend had 3 round of lletz then went on to have a healthy baby boy.

Hope this helps x

Thank you!

Have just seen this!!!

Was scared as they said risk of miscarriage and difficulties getting pregnant for me in future.

Will definitely take the 2 days off work if thats what you recommend.

I only have a bath thats why im worried about the whole shower thingyell

Thank you for the advice though! I just want it all over. Had nothing but issues since 2016.

Hope you get the all clear this time!!!xxx

Thank you for the reply! This helps xxx
