Normal After Lletz

hi ladies.

sorry if this has been posted previously, I can't seem to find any writings on this.

I had my colposcopy, biopsy, lletz, tubectomy and explorative laparectomy 6 days ago and got sent home with VERY little information on what to expect while recovering...

I am experiencing terrible lower backpains, yellow, watery discharge with 'ashy flakes' and some cramping around the ovaries. Have any of you ever experienced these types of pains before?

I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow, but I gotta say I would rather speak to my specialist about this mattera! However, he can't see me until the 17 th of april, I am already booked in for then.

How does one know what is normal? Should I be expecting any bleeding at all? My period actually ended on the day I had my surgeries - so I am not due for a while.

I got sent home with a box of painkillers and told not to have a bath, use tampons or have sex for 6 weeks.

Thankful for ANY advise you may have.

Hi I had my LLETZ just over a month ago now, I was the same, I got sent away not knowing what to expect. I also had the same yellowy Discharge and that lasted a good 3 weeks, at around 14 days I got a pinky discharge which then turned to bright red blood with brown flakey bits in (apparently this is the wound scabbing over on the cervix) I then bled heavily one evening, it was pouring out and I was in such a panic I nearly went to hospital, after researching on the Internet i found this was common at around 2 weeks, you can bleed heavily from the scab coming away. But I would never had known that if it didn't look it up myself, I think they need to give ladies more info on what to expect afterwards. Hope I helped you a little x

That helped SO MUCH! thank you!

I went for a check up today just in case and my doc had me do a swab, what I loved was the fact the she let me do it myself :) - would love to be able to do my own pap smear as well!

GOTTA WAIT A COUPLE DAYS FOR THE RESULTS (APOLOGIES, MY STUPID CAPS HAS STUCK FOR SOME REASON)  ANYWAY, HOPING I DON'T GET A CALL AFTER THAT. I JUST GOT WORRIED, CAUSE THERE IS SO MUCH OF THIS YELLOW STUFF! GETTING PARANOID ABOUT THE SMELL AS WELL, IT ISN'T BAD ... BUT IT IS NOT NORMAL...HAS LIKE A 'BURNED' STUFFY AROMA. *LOL* AROMA...

THANKS AGAIN

Caps issue fixed.

Day 8, started bleeding today. The smell hasn’t changed. Doc said this was a good thing - I am a little worried now though. The told me bright red bleeding is a no - no. I am bright red bleeding atm. You think she means the whole ‘soaking a pad in an hour’ or is this the time to worry? Aaaaargh, I am going insane here!

As soon as I get better, or at least well enough to care about other things I am so putting a flyer together!!! This sucks!

Love having this site. Would be in and out of the emergency room without Jo’s …

Xxx

Glad you're feeling a bit better :) I had bright red bleeding for a couple of weeks (weeks 2 - 4 I think) not loads, nowehere near enough to fill the super sized pads I wore to feel safe in lol, but I was freaked out until I checked Jo's. I think with bleeding anything goes unless you're soaking the pad! x x x

Did you not get an NHS booklet on Colposcopy and what to expect? I have one which details ll the procedures and recovery....e.g. The exam itself, abnormalities, LLETZ, punch biopsies and cone biopsies. After my LLETZ I was given the same again.

I'm under Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust, I would hope everyone gets the same level of info though. It's a worrying enough time without not knowing what to expect.

i bled massively after 3 punch biopsies for 3 hours one night.....but after LLETZ it has been more steady and on and off. I was told to expect this for up to 6 weeks.

xx

thanks ladies!

Here in Sydney I have found there isn't much information. I received a pink piece of paper, which had 6 points written on it. there was an explanation of what was about to happen - the procedure in itself. then the 'basic' info the nurses told me before I left the hospital. no bathing, no swimming, no sex, no tampons and no douching. I didn't receive any other information.

Ah I see, sorry I didn't realise you we're in Syndey. I naively assumed you were UK. Well if you want anything emailing over just ask and I will scan it in.

i love Sydney btw, my best friend has just moved there and I am coming in November :D Determined to live there one day xx
