Life Insurance

Hi,

Not sure if I’m meant to be asking thsi question here as its not to do with treatmenst etc so I do apologise if I shouldnt be.

Im 31 and hadnt thought about life insurance until this point in my life. Im getting swamped trying to find one that wont charge ridiculous becuase they hear the word cancer. Has anyone been through this and recommend any insurers that will treat me fairly please?

1st LLETZ Jan 2017 - confirmed stage 1a1 cancer but completely removed
2nd LLETZ March 2017 - due to close margins on biospy / confirmed as clear
next step - smear every 3 months for a year, then 6 months, then yearly

Hi Rachel.  I had 1a1 cc and got turned down by a few companies for life insurance but then found vitality life insurance and they covered me with no extra cost or special terms x

Hi, Rachel sorry to hear about this, it seems so unfair doesn't it, after everything you have already been through, I hope you have some luck with the company Libby has suggested. I am having similar problems at the moment following a hysterectomy for high grade CGIN, my proposed insurers are in the process of  contacting my GP, but its really helpful to know about Vitality thanks Libby.

Best of luck Caroline

Hi Rachel :)

I've been trying to find life insurance as well. At the moment I'm waiting for the insurers I have applied with to get a report from my doctor but I'll give Vitality a call tomorrow.

I haven't taken out life insurance before - does anyone know how much a reasonable price is for insurance after cervical cancer?

I pay about £450 per year for £300,000 of cover but that was before diagnosis so they have to honor it. If my cc comes back again I'm considered terminal and they will have to pay it then. So I will take that money and see the world business class all the way. If you do get cover now it would probably exclude any condition related to cc only others. I did however get mine after an earlier diagnosis of CIN 1 which I had declared so that was good

Jayne :-)

You have the best outlook! Love you!

I pay about £21 a month. That's to pay out a lump sum to clear our mortgage but also to pay my partner £1000 a month until my youngest child is 21. It's awful having to think about these things, hopefully we'll never need it but its reassuring for me knowing it's there x

I can recommend Royal London.

i had critical illness covered and they paid out a lovely lump sum after being diagnosed last year with cc

Hi :)

I called Vitality and they said they will not consider providing cover for two years after someone has been told they are clear from cancer.

I was advised to Google specialist cancer patient insurance companies so I'll try that while I'm waiting for the doctors report to be prepared.

If I can't find any, do they usually let you take out insurance for all conditions other than cervical cancer or do you have to apply without mentioning the cervical cancer and then anything cervical cancer related wouldn't be covered?

Thank you :)

My Critical illness and life insurance cover paid out when i was diagnosed with CC. My financial advisor has said i should wait 2-5 years before getting another policy as not likely to get one before then that will cover other types of cancer. If you can wait, it sounds like that might be the best thing to do as anyone who will insure you now will probably have a caveat that cancer is not covered.

Good luck xx
