Mine took just under 3 weeks...but were cancerous so whether they were 'rushed' back I'm not sure. I was told at first that they'd be around 4 weeks as there was a bit of a backlog at the lab.
6 weeks is ridiculous though - and must be giving you a lot of un-necessary stress! :( Have you spoken to your consultant about it?
I'll have my fingers crossed that they aren't lost and get back to you soon! xxx
i have spoken to other women as well and it seems that 90% of the time it's 3 weeks the rest is either less or 4 weeks.
i have tried to speak to my consultant but the secretary is extremly rude and always shouts at me which is why i ended up just calling my GP and telling her. She is sooo angry that the colposcopy clinc have been so rude and unsensitive. it's not like it's a routine blood test. The nurse who initially did my my smear was concerned as she noticed visible lesions as well.
i hope they haven't been lost as my colposcopy and LLETZ was the worst experience of my life and thought i was in labour!!!! i was given Tramadol and Codeine and then antibiotics. I just couldn't go through it again.
Boop, i'm very sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis :(
My clinic told me up to six weeks!!!! It's now been 6 weeks 1 day!! I'm so annoyed - everyday I come home I get nervous when I pick up the post. I tried calling yesterday but you can't get through - they don't pick up!... just have to leave a message - aarrgh!
Oh you poor thing. Sounds like my clinic. Maybe you should ring your Gp and ask if the results have come back. If not then ask your GP to investigate. Mine was more than happy and said that 6 weeks is ridiculous considering tjry can get results within days. I would have it looked into as results or biopsies can go missibg (I'm a medical secretary, I have to chase up missing results all the time, so it's not rare to happen)
If things get really really desperate and you (or your GP) just can't get an answer from the consultant/clinic, putting in a little call to the complaints team at that hospital might speed things along. I work for the NHS and our complaints team goes straight to the relevant director/head of service....they dont like having complaints against their name so they keep on at us like mad to make sure we sort it ASAP x
I'm new to the site, it's great to see so many women supporting each other, especially with something so sensitive and stressful.
I had abnormal smear results (suspected CIN 1) before Christmas, and a colposcopy & biopsy on the 28th December, which came back with CIN 3 results. Today I had the LLETZ treatment (not going to lie.. it was painful!). I've read everywhere that this tissue gets sent off for testing and then results come back, but all the doctor said was that I'd get a 'rather standard' letter in 4-6 weeks which will also go to my GP, and then I'll be invited for a follow up colposcopy in 6 months.
Does this mean there's no results to wait for, or that I'm waiting for further feedback? I don't want to worry about it for nothing but I'd rather be prepared for results and not be hit by them out of the blue.
Hi boop did they tell you in person or did they send it in a letter as my tesults are back 12days post leep and ill have a letter in the next day or so
