Problem Freezing Eggs - 2B

Hi ladies. Has anybody else at 2B been recently told there might be a problem accessing eggs because of the tumor? I've been told mine is 5cm and has spread a little bit into the tissue at the side of the cervix and gone into the vagina slightly. I saw a fertility specialist this week and was told I have lots of eggs, more than the average woman. But then he said he wasn't happy to go in vaginally to collect the eggs because he didn't want to disturb the tumor and possibly make it spread. Apparently going in vaginally is the best way of getting the most eggs. He had checked this with the clinical director who agreed it wasn't safe. The next day I saw a consultant who's going to be in charge of my treatment in a few weeks. I told her about what happened and she said this is a new thing that's only cropped up over the last few weeks and she doesn't understand what the issue is with going in vaginally. It makes sense really. I know they are experts in fertility and I'm no expert in cancer but surely if touching or disturbing the tumor is going to make it spread, the gynaecologist wouldn't be able to take biopsies and then leave a gap between diagnosis and treatment. I'm 27 in a long term relationship and was just about to start a family when I was diagnosed. I'm so confused and I'm wondering whether anyone else has been given such conflicting information about freezing eggs? Hi Helen

just wanted to bump your post so maybe it will get seen by someone who can help. I have no experience or knowledge of egg preservation but wanted to help.

Hi Lolli :-)

I'm afraid bumping posts doesn't work like that in this forum, they stay in the order they were begun.

Apologies, I know nothing at all about egg harvesting procedures but wish you all the very best.

Be lucky :-)
