Post treatment discharge...HELP!!!

Hi everyone, I am new to posting on the site. I am 5 weeks out from my last of 3 internal radiations, 5 chemo (cisplatin) and 25 EBR’S. Unfortunately all my mind can do is think about whether the cancer is gone, especially since this week I developed a watery discharge similar to that I had before diagnosis. No smell, yellow/brown/sometimes clear and gushes almost like you wee’d yourself. My hdr nurse and radiation oncologist and his nurse have all said that is normal as the radiation may have taken a little time to boost and can work up to 16 weeks after my last treatment. I have been trying to have sex with my partner and he has been very good and patient and I have been using the dilators as instructed. I noticed it has gotten worse since I started using them. I’m just wondering if any of you have had this similar issue. My mind is racing a hundred miles a minute despite being told it’s normal and the vaginal tissues are still very irritated. I have a checkup May 9th and I’m sure if he was concerned my rad/onc would have brought me in to see him. Can anyone she’d some light for me or share a similar experience if the have to set my mind at ease.

Hi. I don't know for sure but it's probably nothing. When I went for my 6 weeks check up I had some bleeding from my bowel, the Dr said it was normal.  I think it's cos we have had so much movement in that area x

Hi Jetsgirl4

I have this discharge aswell. I'm 4 weeks post treatment and am due to start with the dialators this week. No other side effects to speak. Maybe asking a Macmillan nurse? I asked my gp and she said she would have thought that it would be expected but I never suffered from anything like this before my brachy so am scared incase its an infection.

I have looked elsewhere online and cant find any answers so dont kniw if its common or not.

Take care x

Hi Jetsgirl :-)

I can't help you much with the discharge story but I just wanted to reassure you that after 25 radio, 5 Cisplatin & 3 brachy there is next to no chance that your cancer has survived that battering. You can start looking forward to a long and exciting life including Pension planning :-)

Be lucky :-)

Tivoli I love you. You make me feel so positive!!! Xx

Hi Jetsgirl

Just to let you know that I spoke with a specialist radiotherapy nurse today and queried this tyoe of discharge and she assured me that it was lerfectly normal to have this after brachytherapy. She said that being on your feet, exercise and sex/dilator fun will increase the amount passed.

Thank you so much ladies! I love the positivity and the info you guys have passed along to me! I have my first follow up appt with my oncologist on Monday and I am terrified! I really hope that the cancer is gone! I have noticed that the discharge is more when I've used the dilators or had sex. If I haven't had either in a few days it tend to taper off to very little. I feel fine otherwise and no other problems other than willing ked hot flashes but what ya gonna do? Lol

Wish me luck for Monday:) I'll keep ya'll posted.
