Post Radical Hysterectomy

Hi all, I was wonder if anyone experienced sharp, shooting, spasm like pains before diagnosis of cervical cancer or post treatment.

These crippling pains were one of the reasons (plus the bleeding) for my request to be referred to Gynecological assessment. Following diagnosis of cancer stage 1b1, and post radical hysterectomy, the pains/spasms stopped. I’ve had my first clear 3month check up in January, as the previous 3 check ups resulted in additional biopsies and scans- all clear luckily! However just before the check up these sporadic shooting pains started! Today they were almost unbearable for at least an hour before subsiding?!?!

Ive sent an email to my specialist nurse Incase I should be concerned but just thought I’d see if anyone has experienced similar?

Thank you in advance.

Hi I was 1b1 had radical hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and yesterday had the all clear. I have been experiencing pain in my left thigh /hip area which started after lletz procedure and I still get it now,not everyday but most days. It's not sciatica as that's in back of leg and mines in front. It is odd my first 3 month check up is in May.I was referred to gynae for bleeding too which they said ectropian cervix then referred to colposcopy where they found cancer. I'm 31 had clear smear in june.

Hi Sharon thank you for replying & congratulations on the all clear! Amazing news. My pains are spasm like inside my vagina (sorry for the detail!)- they come and go but they’re the same pains I had pre-diagnosis.

I too had some slight bleeding post op - it turned out to be granulation tissue which was a relief. I hope you get everything sorted too xx

Hi all

i am 3 months post op from a radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymph node removal following a diagnosis of a tumor 1b1and awaiting my 3 month check up; although very painful in the early days of healing it all seemed to subside, however the last month or so i have been experiancing differnt pains; some in vagina like shooting pains, sometimes in lower abdomen and sometimes near the hips where i'm guessing is to do with the lymph node removal. i'm just wondering if this is normal and if some shooting pains means everything is starting to heal or healed almost and that's why i am feeling it more? i am less numb in those areas now or could it be something sinister is happeing?.

thank you

xx

Aww I'm sorry I've only just seen your message. I hope you are doinng well with your recovery. I too continue to have this shooting pin like pains up my vagina! They can be crippling. I report them at every 3 month check up but my consultant doesn't seem concerned. I feel it's my job to always report every symptom (even though I feel like a hypochondriac!) and then it's his job to determine what's worth following up and what is not. The pains do worry me, as they do not feel normal but I'm mostly reassured by his words. I'm 20 months post op and I'm mostly really good. Time (and a big block of counselling) definitely help.
im on here tonight having a bit of a wobble myself. I have a horrible pain in my lower back and it's triggered all sorts of horrible thoughts. I hate that that's where my head immediately jumps back to.
I really hope you're ok and manage to pick up my reply sooner than I did yours. Sending you lots of strength - you've got this! Xxxx
