First atypical PAP (ASCUS) & heading for colposcopy

I am 39 and was found to have high-risk HPV about 7 months ago. The first PAP then was negative and now it’s ASCUS. I need to have a colposcop. My regular Gyn doesnt have openings until end of March. I called about Gyn who performs colposcopy and she can see me in two weeks. Fearing cancer, I feel I need the earliest possible appointmen, even though it’s with an unfamiliar physicIan. Plus, a second opinion couldn’t hurt, right?

I am naturally very anxious about how this could go. I feel encouraged that 7 months ago I had a normal PAP. So, my feeling is I likely don’t have invasive cancer due to the fact it’s a slow growing cancer. But maybe I’m wrong I’m feeling this way. It’d be helpful to hear if you agree that I can take comfort in knowing I had normal PAPs until now.

Thanks for any encouragement you can provide me as I wait on this!

How did your colposcopy go? Im in the similar situation...
