Hi im new,and looking for answers i guess.i had my smear 3 weeks ago (still awaiting results) and had light bleeding for a couple of days after.i went mid cycle.i have had abnormal smears in the past and had a cone biopsy and no further treatment needed,but i have never bled after a smear before.im anxious about the results as i have been having other symptoms.has anyone had a bleed and their results came back abnormal? I know i should be patient and wait for results but i cant think of anything else.
Hi! There could be many reasons why; as you'd said, you went mid-cycle so it could possibly be hormonal, your cervix could be a little irritated from the smear (which I've heard is pretty common, actually), or, it could be something more-- hard to know at this point. The results of the smear should help guide you for sure, but trusting your own gut should be number one, in my book (meaning even if it comes back normal, and you continue to have random spotting or bleeding in between periods, push for investigation.) I've had abnormal spotting / bleeding pretty much whenever anything messes with the area, and no one can tell me for certain what causes it for me. I'm still waiting on my colpo that's due this upcoming week, so I'm playing the waiting game right with ya. I hope that your results come back quickly, and that they contain good news. *hugs*
I did bleed a little bit after I had my smear test done for about a day or so, it was more of a reddy brown discharge (sorry tmi!) but I think it is normal as the brush is essentially scrapping cells from your cervix and my results came back as abnormalÂ

Thanks for your replys.so i guess its common to bleed.hopefully week coming i will be put out my misery.and good luck with your colposcopys girls.ive been there and its no quite so bad.its the waiting as you said is the worst .

I had smear test and I ahd been bleeding for 3 days amd I had pain ,and the Gp.tolsd me to.go back taking 2 telaxant tablets that she prescribed me ,I had smear test before and never bleed ,she could not do it so.I have to.go back but after a month I stil have pain (little)
I think she was digging too much thats why made me bleed ,an specialist should be doing that test instead a general medicine as is a GP ,I don't say Spain is better but in that case they donit vetter as the smear test is done by a Ginecologist ,never ever a Gp takes part f.a so special thing ,everÂ
I blame.my Gp ,she doesn't know the sensivity need to be touch the whom ,thats why we bleed
Its 4 weeks today since my smear.still no results.i called the surgery and the receptionist just sighed and said well if you havent had results yet there cant be anything wrong" not helping.do you think this is the case?
