Almost 2 year post op pain

Hello! I was wondering if anyone else has suffered with severe leg pain since their op? I was diagnosed with cervical cancer when i was 30 and very swiftly had a radical hysterectomy with my lymph nodes removed, ive had lymphodema and really achy, burning legs ever since! Docs are no help and consultant just says its the lymphodema but this pain is not normal and i dont have swelling in my legs! Help! Thanks! Kelly x

Hiya

I had a radical hysterectomy with lymph nodes removed december 2016. I too have achy burning legs. Most of the top of my legs are still numb. I get a pain like needles are being constantly stuck in me. Drives me crackers!! Like you my drs have been usless and just said its down to the lymph nodes being removed and it might be like this forever.

Im sorry im not much help to you just wanted you to know theres someone else with the same problems! x

Hello

Sorry that this pain is continuing for you. I have actually been experiencing this more recently and thought I was just almost exageratting but having read you post has actually given me some relief that I am not alone. My legs are not swollen but they ache and burn. I thought it was due to exercise initially but I stopped and it has become more frequent/worse.

Sorry I can’t offer any specific advice. I havent spoken with my consultant about the leg pain as I was more concerned about pelvic pain but I’ll definitely let her know and she what she says.

I often find that they don’t offer answers and you are left in limbo a bit. Xx

Hi ladies,

there is a technique called vodder manual lymphnatic therapy. Look for a message therapist in your area that is certified in this field. They can help you.

The pain is from lymph fluid not moving around and even if there are no signs of swelling it doesn’t mean the fluid is not just liguering and causeing issues. Many times this fluid sitting stagment in an area can put pressure on a nerve causing weird sensations like burning or numbness or tingles.

i had chemorad not surgury but get a weird sensation sometimes at the top of my legs. My message therapist who is trained in vodder will manually drain the area. Even though it is not swollen and the next day I feel so much better. I also use some essential oils mixed with a carrier oil and message the sore area. This seems to really help.

Good luck

Hi Lolli

That’s really useful thank you so much! I’ll definitly look into this!x

Well this is interesting. I've had achy burning legs and feet for a good 18 months or more. Never even considered if it might be linked to my lymph nodes removal. My gp investigated for rheumatoid issues and nothing came back. Don't have a consultant check up until Oct so maybe I'll call the specialist nurse for a chat. It's surprised me a little to hear  others experience the same.
