adenosquamous carcinomas????

hello,

i have just been given my results and treatment plan and was told i have a rare type called adenosquamous carcinomas stage 1B1 plus they believe its spread to my pelvic lymph nodes taking my chances of recovery from 90% to 50-60% things seem to have been turned even further around......been told this is even rarer due to my age (27). but i wasnt told much more about it and i would like more info if anybody knows anymore or have been in my situation them selves???? please help im totally overwhelmed :( xxx

Oh dear, so sorry to read your news. It is a horrible shock when you first get this kind of news.

Are you sure about the lymph nodes? I don't think they can say for sure until they have been removed and examined in the lab. It's very easy to get ahead of yourself and you never really know untl you know.

There is good information in the About Cervical Cancer area on this site as well as the Macmillan and Cancer Reserach websites. Other women in here who have experienced your type of cancer will be able to share their experiences too. Aoart from that, I think we'd all advise you to avoid Googling if you can - there are lots of scary and unhelpful sites out there.

What I would also say is be careful about reading too much into the survival stats. The method has drawbacks and in any case, they are based on historical data and treatment is so much better these days.

So I guess what I am saying is take some deep breaths, try not to get ahead of yourself and try to get back to see your assigned specialist nurse as soon as you can. I found mine to be my best source of help in navigating my way through the early stages.

It's terrifying, I know, but you can do this and we'll help you if we can. Big cyber hugs. xxx

no they believe it has as it was glowing on my pet scan. so thats what they said. i managed to record everything as im useless at rememebering info and can get very over whelmed xxx

Hi i remember the feelings so well i actually posted the same message in sheer panic and no one replied which made me panic even more. Try not to focus to much on the type and stastistics and as rosehip said do not google i scared my self silly  x x x

So sorry you had this news - just wanted to say hi and tell you that I had adenosquamous carcinoma staged at 2B and I got the all clear in April.  I had no lymph node involvement but it had started spreading  beyond my cervix.

Ask away if I can help you with any questions - may be best to private message me though as this sends an email to my phone and will pick up more quickly.

Wishing you lots of love and hugs as you'll be terrified right now but as Rosehip says, wait until you get confirmed info and try not to google  xx
