Stage 1a1 hysterectomy

Hopefully you get a date. I’m ok. Had a little set back today ended up back in hospital as I had a heamatoma scared me so got checked out. Had a scan and all ok. Sent home with antibiotics to make sure no infection. Was doing good until that. But I feel fine in myself. It is a slow recovery and I know this. Being super careful and just taking each day as it comes. The only thing that really bothered me after the laparoscopy was the shoulder pain. I never knew about it. The gas they inflate you with affects the shoulder. It passed after a few days. Best thing is to keep moving and it soon disappears x

Hi I hope you’re ok! I’ve read about the shoulder pain . I’m not gonna lie I’m feeling nervous now. Just hope it goes ok. What grade did they grade you? Did you decide how long to take off as I’m self employed also xx

Hi lovely. I’m ok was in shock with the little set back but antibiotics seem to be working and just taking each day as it comes. I really need to get back to work soon as no financial help available. But it’s going to be another month at least I reckon. I’m not going to rush back into anything. Being nervous is natural with any kind of surgery. Please don’t rush back to work once you’ve had the surgery. I largely underestimated how tired I would be. I’m week 4 now and can manage to walk 10 minutes without pain and I’m not napping now. Listen to your body it will definitely tell you if your over doing it. Are you having everything removed? I had everything removed and the menopause literally hits you straight away. I’m getting alot of hot flashes at night. I want to heal properly before I consider any hrt. Happy to talk and answer any questions you have. I’m still waiting on my biopsy results. Think I will call this week as it’s been a month now

How you doing lovely? I hope you’re feeling better? I’ve only taken a month off work I’m not full time, also having key hole did you?
I’m starting to worry now this whole thing has really made me over think every thing.
I’ve asked to keep my ovaries so I can hold off on the menopause. If you can I would try and see a menopause expert just to give you any tips if you have symptoms… just because some GPS are still so rubbish witn it.
Hope soon you can put this all behind you. Did they mention a vault smear to you at all? Xx

Hey I’m getting there. Had a few set backs. Was in hospital twice and the second time they finally did a treatment with silver nitrate and I definitely feel better for it.yes I had keyhole. I had to have everything removed due to the type of cancer my consultant said it would likely come back on the ovaries. I’m still waiting for my biopsy results but feeling positive. Yes they said depends on biopsy results whether I’d have the smear in 6 months. If you can keep your ovaries that’s great. I think I’m going against the idea of hrt. Reading lots about it and I just don’t feel like I want the risk

Hi there hope you’re ok? I’ve had the silver nitrate before from a haemorrhage I got from a lletz procdure. Glad it make you feel better. What sort of cancer did you have? I’ve asked to keep my ovaries they’ve not said antrhing about it coming back but obviously I’m so paranoid now. See how your symptoms go with the menopause I would see someone who specialises in it for advice if you feel you need it , don’t be on your own cos it’s a big thing.
How old are you do you mind me asking? Have you had an audit done yet? Xx

Hey I’m doing ok now. I had carcinoma of the cervix. Still get tired and sore but least I think I’m on the road to recovery. Yes I have an appointment next week about hrt. I hop I can avoid it as I know I’ll get stressed about risks.
I’m 45. I’m still waiting on my biopsy results. It’s now 7 weeks so will be chasing it up with my appointment next week.

Aww good luck with everything and just try and get different options if you’re uncertain because there’s so much about Hrt and I think it helps talking to someone who knows lots about it. Will make you feel less anxious. Have my hysterectomy on Thurs still can’t believe it’s happening

Good luck for Thursday. Will be thinking of you. Am happy to answer any questions if I can. X

Thank you lovely. Just got home. All went to plan. Omg the trapped wind pain is so bad tho!!! How you doing x x

Mint tea will be your best friend. Keep hydrated. The bloating is awful. It does get easier. I don’t get it much now. Take it real easy and keep up with pain relief x

Thanks love have been doing that feel ok, just a lot to take in isn’t it. I want to just move forwards and get back to normal. How you doing / feeling xx

Hi this is my first post. I had abnormal long periods for about two years my GP didn’t seem concerned but as I hit 55 I knew something was wrong so as I work at a hospital took myself down to the Gynaecology dept who were fab and the the fun began. Checks tests scans hysteroscopy which showed pre cancerous cells so I was listed for a total hysterectomy on 15th sept and was called back a couple of weeks ago to advise I had stage 1a cancer. I was shocked but they are happy that my surgery would be curative. And no further treatment needed thank goodness Just dealing with the what if stage at the moment but overall my recovery has been fairly good. I have last week found a lump in my tummy near by scare about the size
If a penny so am going to contact my oncology specialist nurse tomorrow but noticed one of you ladies had something similar and this could be an infection? Just hoping nothing more
For me.

It is you will definitely have days that you feel overwhelmed. I totally understand I was getting so impatient about healing. I’m good. Muscles are tight at the end of the day but getting stronger. Today I finally got my results back. I am cancer free! Apparently there was endro and inflammation. Told not to take hrt because of it. So least my thoughts on that are backed by Dr. Last night I had my first proper sleep since the op. No getting up every two mins to pee and only 2 hot flushes! Hurrah I take that for a win. Please do take it easy and don’t rush anything. Your body is in healing mode right now. Enjoy some relax time. Always here if you need a chat about any of it x

Hi there it’s all alot to take in isn’t there. The lump could just be your body healing or could be something else. Always good to get things checked just in case. I had a lump on one part of one of my scars but after a week it disappeared. I did have two heamatomas but they are very treatable I had antibiotics and a week later silver nitrate on the cuff. If you are ever worried about anything please contact your Dr or MDT team. Even if it turns out to be nothing it is better for your peace of mind. You sound like your in the same boat as us. I today have been given the all clear so those big ops we have to save our lives. Take care x

Put the call in to my oncology specialist nurse but she was off today so hopefully call me back tomorrow and we can see what this little lump all about. So glad you’re cancer free. I feel your pain with the peeing and hot flushes no HRT allowed for me but hopefully the body will settle down and life can resume x

Omg so pleased for you that’s amazing!!! Yey!!! Nervous about my results but also being positive. Feel knackered now did go out for a walk etc, have had friends visit people have been so kind,
Glad your not suffering to much with meno- magnesium is really good for before bed to help with sleep if that becomes an issue but just take it easy still you’ve been through so much x your hospital sounds a lot more informative than mine, they are so blasé with certain info, did you have an Audit done? X
