Repeat of planning scan

Hi all, I’m at the end of my first week of treatment & had a bumpy start with my bladder & bowels. They’ve said my bladder is too full, then not enough & put me on laxatives for bowel. I had a call from my specialist yesterday saying they might have to redo the planning scan and today they’ve told
me I’m booked in tomorrow before my radio. Has anyone had this before? I’m terrified they’ve found something else & in a bit of a spin! Xxx

Hey @Willow23

I would always have issue when I was getting radiation… not full enough, constipated, trapped gas
(sorry TMI) it took a couple of hours sometimes, then the end of the week would be complete opposite
my body and digestive system was just so messed up from all the treatment.
You have had your scans prior to treatment so it’s most likely not because it’s anywhere else.
Try not to stress, it could be that they just need to adjust it to target the tumour better, it’s good they are being thorough!

Thank you so much for replying. It’s just been such an overwhelming week I feel all over the place and just wanted to hide under my duvet. They have been so good at the hospital and I feel terrible as I snapped at them. They called me at 8 pm last night & said they are going to leave it for now thankfully and let everything settle down & see where we are. So hopefully over the weekend things will move along. Honestly, thank you so much for getting in touch, I so appreciate this forum and everyone on it xxxx

Aww well cancer mentally is such a tough time for all of us, I don’t blame you for getting snapping once you finally think have a plan in place and then the thought of it changing again!
I’m sure they’d understand, but are also doing it all for your best interest also.

You might find that the weekend might make a difference, having a couple of days off treatment for everything to settle a little internally.

Yeah this site helped me a lot during treatment!
Always happy to chat if you have any Q’s

@Amyh aww yes it all calmed down and I didn’t need another planning scan thankfully. I was very lucky that I had very few side effects from the treatment in terms of my bowels and bladder. Just make sure you drink plenty of water and keep up with your eating. I completely understand how stressful it all is, but be kind to yourself rest when you need to. Here if you need a chat xxxx

@Amyh it can be totally overwhelming and stressful, but you can and will get through the treatment. Every radio or chemo is giving it a blast and giving it its marching orders! I know from my experience, the symptoms I felt before diagnosis were relieved after a week or so of treatment so took that as a sign the treatment was doing its job. Sending lots of hugs your way xxx
