I'm going to try and make this a short post. Yesterday I got results back from a HPV swab and I am high risk HPV. Although I did test negative to the strain 16 and 18. I am awaiting smear test results which I had Friday privately as I am only 21 and not allowed a smear yet on the NHS. I did the HPV test a day before my smear test.. how likely is it that my smear will now come back abnormal because of HPV? Is HPV always causing smears to be abnormal or can you have a normal smear whilst carrying a high risk HPV virus?Once I've got my results from my private health care who did the smear I will then ask for a colposcopy.
The reason why i wanted a smear and hpv test is because i was told at my routine sti check that my cervix was red, bloody and inflamed.
