Hello I had LLETZ for CIN3 and CGIN I was told definitely no cancer found, no clear margins but on 3 months and 6 months check it was all clear. My gynecologist said that before they used to do hysterectomy very often for CGIN but now they also do conservative approach I think that is what she called it, so she said if I need it I could have a second LLETZ but she will not do a 3rd because of CGIN and my age 43 and already have my kids, Hysterectomy will be after 2 LLETZ. Also very close monitoring for quite a few years because of the CGIN. I hope my experience can help you, but I guess every person is different and treatment options may vary depending on specialist and each case probably not exactly the same. Take care
I am in a similar situation and I am 29 too - my lletz and biopsy came back as cgin with no clear margin so I am booked in for a second appointment next week, it says for a further biopsy but not sure whether this will be lletz too. We also have one toddler and had planned to try for another baby late last year but obviously that had to be put on hold. I am really hoping that a hysterectomy is not needed but looking up cgin online and on here it does seem a common treatment. I hope everything goes well for you.
Hi Butterfly,
Was thinking of you today, hope you’re appointment went well?
When I saw the consultant today he said there was a small margin that was not clear on my last lletz but he would think this had been cleared already with the cauterisation last time. However better to be be safe especially with the cgin so we went for a further lletz and this time it was a much bigger size (well it looked it to me!).
The consultant said he was very confident that he had gotten it all this time and he would be surprised if I needed a further treatment following this one.
We talked about my fertility and he did advise to wait for the results of this sample and then if clear try for another baby straight away just to try and ensure that my family would be competed if I were to need more invasive treatment in the future. He did also talk to me about second lletz causing increased risk for preterm birth and late miscarriage but said the risk can be looked at if I did fall pregnant and they would do everything they could to try to prevent anything happening like this.
I left the appointment quite hopeful however it is the waiting that seems to get the better of me so I am hoping that my worry doesn’t keep piling up the longer it takes. It was also really interesting to see how well it seemed to have healed since the last treatment 8 weeks ago.
Was just thinking of you, your gonna find this very strange but I had the very same outcome as you
Told me that there was no clear margins after the first lletz 8 weeks ago and it should all be got this time that it was in a tricky place.
Seemed happy enough and asked about me was I having more kids and to wait until I was all healed and then complete my family.
Was told my results would be available in 8 weeks I left feeling like a weight had been lifted, I’m so happy things went well for you too
Just wanted to update this post as I know it is really useful when searching topics!
Following my second lletz the result came back as CIN1 only and I was given the go ahead to TTC.
It took us a few months but we are now 20 weeks pregnant! I went for cervical length scans due to my history which were 4cm and 6cm (which is apparently above average even without cervical treatment). I have been told I need no further checks on my cervix so fingers crossed for the rest of my pregnancy.
Just wanted to give some hope as I know when I was diagnosed with CGIN I was so worried about my fertility as there was a lot of ladies having hysterectomies so I am very grateful this wasn’t the case for me.
I was pregnant by my 6 month test of cure so they have postponed this until 3 months post birth. Fingers crossed I get the all clear at this appointment.
