Hi. I was diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer in January 2023. Had a radical hysterectomy on 24 February, but my gynecologist left my ovaries due the fact that im only 35. I went for 6 sessions of chemo( felt tired, nausea, awful taste in my mouth), 28 sessions of radiotherapy(no side affects) and 3 sessions of brugytheraphy. At this moment im dealing with hot flashes, night sweats, excruciating painful sex, acne and dry skin. I saw my oncologist today and he reminded me to have sex. Now im reading that they should have given me a dilator to keep my vigana open. I don’t know what going on and i feel that my oncologist is helping me. Can u guys help me to what to do next. Thank u

One of my clinical nurse specialists gave me a set of dilators and taught me how to use them; so might be worth asking your nurse specialist.
Another option is to ask your GP for a referral to a women’s health physio who should be able to advise you about techniques for coping with painful sex, including the use of dilators.
