I am new on here but been reading posts for a few days now.
I’ll tell you abit about what’s been happening…
Previously I have had two smear tests, December 2014 and December 2011, both came back as normal.
However, i have had bleeding on and off since, after intercourse, sometimes painful. Didn’t think anything of it.
I had the contraceptive implant in around June 2013, previously on contracetrative injection. Had the implant removed and replaced this year June 2016.
Been having irregular bleeding for the past 24mths, also didn’t think anything of it, and presumed it was due to the implant.
Anyhow, around two months ago, I started bleeding after intercourse, really painful also, was usually the morning after and spotting. Then it became regular, every time… I went to see my GP last Thursday 27th October, who did an internal and examination, told me my cervix was inflamed and would refer me for a colposcopy. Received a phone call from the hospital on Monday of this week 31st October to book me in for the colposcopy for this Wednesday, yesterday 2nd November. Not even a week to wait. I went and spoke to the doctor who took some information from me, went into next room, the doctor found three polyps which she removed and said would send them to be tested, also she said she took one biopsy from my cervix, as the dye wouldn’t take to a particular area? and would need to wait up to 6weeks for results.
Even though I had the colposcopy yesterday, I am now worried about the whole thing… How fast I got referred, polyps, biopsy… wondering and presuming it must be something to worry about.
Has anyone got any advice? How long do you usually wait for results?

Hi ya, I didnt want to read an run. I can't be much help but I can say that polyps can cause bleeding and are quite common. I'm 14 days post lletz biopsy and still no news for me despite being told they'd put them through as urgent and I'd hear within 7-10 days. It really does vary. The wait is horrible, if you are anything like me you will go from being calm and confident to thinking the worst and then back and too from there. What I've learned from this site is that even if our worst fears regarding this come true it is very treatable. Cervical screening has a great reputation for catching things early if they do arise, the fact you've had two clear smears and one not so long ago is in your favour.

Thank you for your feedback. Every time the phone rings I'm in panick mode thinking it's the hospital. The doctor on Wednesday applied something to my cervix to stop the bleeding, as I have been for the past 3weeks. Today I have had a clear pad, sorry tmi. But I am relieved I can get back to some normality. The worry is still there at the back of my head. I've become very emotional as well over the past week, could burst out crying at any time. Some people may think I'm being over dramatic as Ive not had any results yet, so shouldn't worry until the diagnosis is in. I have been reading lots over the past day as well, probably not a good idea, but least I know a bit of information and to ask if I have any problems or quieries about anything.

I had my lletz 3 weeks ago on Monday, I was told I'd get my results in the post. This morning I had a letter saying an appointment had been made with another gynaecologist and no other details. I rang the hospital and the receptionist said she wasn't medically trained or authorised to discuss results and would only say that the gynecologist has requested I come back in. Safe to say im bricking it, I only had the smear in the first place because my twin brother passed away from unexpected cancer so i thought I'd stop being soft. Also 30 with 3 children
Hi I had 3 biopsies taken yesterday after an abnormal smear results as she was doing it she said there was quite abit of cells showing abnormal after putting the liquid thing in then told me they look precancerous now I'm absolutely beside myself can't think at all one minute im fine the next I go into complete panic mode! I am 25 with 4 young boys this was my first smear... I am like you though bleeding day after intercourse.. please keep us uptodate xxx best of luck xxxx

Well no news as yet, still waiting for results, its been 12days since I had the colposcopy. I know they said up to 4/6weeks but even after nearly two weeks, I'm still nervous, panicky, sad, happy.. well all different emotions really. Happy as they say no news is good news, right? And surely if there was anything majorily wrong they would have been in contact by now! Sad and nervous because I'm still waiting, still thinking what if they are double checking to be on sure before they ring or phone me!
oh well, what will be, will be, I guess. Just hoping I hear soon.
