Stage 1a1 follow up.

I was diagnosed in April with stage 1a1 after the first biopsy. When I was told at my follow up appointment that it was cancer, I decided under the advice from the doctor to remove the opening of my cervix ( no more children for me) . I was told my local nurse at the gym surgery will do my follow up smear in 6 months. But 4 weeks after the appointment I was sent an hospital appointment to go back colposcopy. My doctor said my second biopsy was clear of cancer so I’ve been worried why I have to go back to the hospital. Has anyone else experience this ? Also has anyone has recurrence of cancer found at their 6 month check up?

I haven’t had a similar experience to you but I can understand your concern. Thought I’d stop by and say that, on the bright side, your colposcopy will mean you will be getting a more thorough check than waiting for a 6 month smear.

It’s possible that the appointment for a colposcopy at 4 weeks is an admin error. Maybe worth contacting your medical team to check.
