Smear- waiting

I had my first smear 10 days ago, however I had it on a saturday so I assume they don’t count weekends for processing results. How long did it take for you to receive yours? I’m a very anxious person and the wait is making me nervous, but the nurse was lovely and explained that sometimes it’s common to find abnormal cells at first smears (I’m 25) which put my mind at ease a bit!

NHS cervical screening aim to get your result back in two weeks, but it could take longer depending on if the laboratory has delays. If you haven’t heard after two weeks, give your GP or the clinic a quick call and ask them what the turnaround time is at the moment for results, they should be in communication with the lab and so will usually be able to give you a rough indication if it is delayed. I hope this helps.
