I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and had my last colposcopy check up in June 2017. The results of that check up came back clear and I was told that I would not have another check up for a year.
I've just received a letter inviting me to book a smear test but I was expecting another colposcopy appointment, rather than a smear appointment. Does anybody know if it's usual to go back to just smears just one year after being cleared or do people usually have follow up colposcopies for five years?
Also, I gave birth six weeks ago. Does anybody know whether you can have a smear/colposcopy so soon after giving birth or do you have to wait a certain amount of time?
