Hi Ladies
i had my MRI on Thursday 21/05/15 I'm due to go in on Thursday 28th for my radical Hystorectomy with lymph nodes removed
im hoping MRI is ok for me to go ahead with the surgery. PET scan revealed no spread which was a BIG relief! Hopeful that they can
do keyhole surgery. How long before I'm up and about, I know I will have catheter for about a week. (I have a 21month
toddler)
thanks Lesley xx
Hi Lesley
I in the same boat as you, got my mri and pet scan results and no spread and am having a hysterectomy. I have 6 year old twins but i think for me the waiting was the worst of it all. It was the not knowing. K am seeing consultant and having pre op assessment this Thursday. Positive thoughts are it will be all gone soon xx

Hey,
i had a radical tracelectomy in aug 2012. It was two stages. They removed my lymph nodes first and because they looked swollen they stopped had them tested then finished off the process two weeks later. So within the space of 6 months I had three operations (had a c section four months before) I can honestly say it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. i was in hospital for two days, catheter removed on day two. I felt so ok I even caught the tube home. I dont know if I was determined not to feel ill or the Adrenalin or the fact that I was so happy to be allowed the process. I also had a three month old baby to look after. All in all the whole thing was fine and I was well and truly back in my feet within a week. Hope this helps. Good luck to you all xxxx
Hi Christine,
Thanks for your reply, yeah sounds like you have your hands full too, having a young family keeps you busy and your mind off things...for a while. I agree the waiting
is the worst, and now the not knowing if MRI was ok, I'm sure it will be. I just want it over with, getting nervous now trying not to think about it. Hope everything goes well with your surgery. I go in on Thursday and op on Friday.
best wishes

Hi Amyrose
Thanks for your comment, you have been through a lot and especially just after giving birth! Hope all is well with you now and your family. I'm just getting nervous I suppose knowing what's ahead of me. I have great support from my partner and family, it's just going to be hard to being able to lift my little girl up when she reaches for me. Hope I make speedy recovery like you did.
thanks

Lesley let me know how your operation goes xx
Good luck

Hi Lesley
good luck with your op on Thursday. Great to hear they're going to be able to do it via keyhole,it'll make all the difference in terms of recovery. My baby was 10 months old when I had the radical hyst (abdominal) and had to leave the wee guy with daddy so I could decamp to mum's away from the baby for the first couple of weeks. It was awful to be away from him but neccessary to help with recover and rest. Hopefully you've got a good support network around you. My catheter was in for 16 days which seemed like about 3 months at the time, haha, but hey, everything's working just fine and that's the main thing. They want to give everything a chacne to heal after the nerve damage during the op.
Heal quick - summer is on its way!

Hey Christine
i will do, keep in touch when it's all over, thanks again

Hi Leila
Thanks for your reply, that makes me feel so much more positive after reading your comment, I'm hoping the lymph nodes are all clear too so I don't need to go down the road of further treatment. I have a great support network everyone been fab all my friends and family pulling together to help watch my little girl, when I get out of hospital it's going to be hard not being able to look after her. I'm hoping I make a quick recovery, and everything heals well.

Hope all went well on Thursday - let us know how you're getting on x L
Hi Ladies,
just an update I was admitted last thurs 28/5 and my surgery was on the friday morning. I had a Radical Hystorectomy with lymph node removal. Stage 1b1. I was in theatre for 4 hours roughly and they managed to do it by keyhole which I was so happy about. I was in HDU for one night, and discharged Sunday tea time. I'm recovering at home but still have the catheter in for about 7days, it's been a bit of pain especially at night trying to sleep. Well I got the best news ever today, the cancer nurse called from the hospital with my results saying clear margins and all 25 lymph nodes normal! No treatment, I am so lucky that they managed to detect it early.

Hi Lesley
Well am starting to nervous aboug the ooperation x
Christine
Hi lesley
How are you after your operation x
Hi chris11
im doing ok, i know you will be nervous about your surgery tomorrow, the waiting is the worst, it will all be over soon and hopefully you will get to enjoy the summer ☺️. i had a bit of a set back on Friday 3weeks postop I had heavy bleeding which has settled a bit I was checked over and given antibiotic. My advise would be take it easy after surgery and don't try to do things to soon, I think that's what I did. Drink peppermint tea that helps break up the wind from all the gas they put inside. I was in agony for about 3days it was under my diaphragm and shoulder blades found it difficult to breath! I had a lot of burping lol. I would say that was worse than actual surgery pain that wasn't too bad.
Take care, if you have any questions just let me know.
