So hair has started to fall out after a couple of rounds of chemo - looking for any suggestions for creams, balms etc that I can put on my scalp over the coming weeks when I lose all of my hair.

I didn’t lose my hair (on my head) during treatment so I can’t speak from direct experience. However, I have ended up with lymphoedema and I’ve been advised it’s imperative to keep the skin in tip top condition.
I’m not sure why you want to use a cream or balm on your scalp. But two creams which I use because I find them gentle and effective are Epimax and Aveeno. I was told to only use creams which are free of perfume, parabens and SLS.
