Finally received my biopsy results today (always on a Saturday!) results are cin3.
Whilst I'm obviously very glad it has not come back as something worse I'm still feeling quite wobbly. That however isn't my main concern - I've been booked in for treatment on the 17th of JANUARY!!! Does that seem a long wait?
That does seem like way too long to waiting around, can you ring and ask about taking any cancellations that come up? It's not like you can just forget about it until january, I know what it's like to want to get it over with.
Worked out it's 11weeks away which is such a long wait! I know that changes are meant to occur slowly but considering my change from mild to severe in a short space of time I really don't want to hang around for that long.
I haven't seen anyone on here have to wait that long! Most people seem to be Treated on the same day but I'm going to have to wait 3.5 months in total.
My only advice to you is do not be fobbed off. If docs suspect cc you have to be seen within 2 weeks. I have to say docs were very swift with my appts when cc was suspected but once biopsies came back cin 3 i seemed to go back into the sytem and have possibly waited a bit longer for treatment but no way let them make you wait as routine as the mental torture is awful even tho probs nothing bad is happening to you down there that quick !
Best wishes and hope you can get a sooner appt for your own peace of mind
Like you said, these things are meant to develop very slowly, but the need for quick treatment is more mental and emotional, or it was for me, anyway. I think my original LLETZ appointment was 5 weeks after my colposcopy and that seemed like an eternity. I called and asked to be put on the cancellation list and was lucky enough to get in earlier. It really is torturous to have to wait, which none of the doctors seem to fully appreciate. When my margins from the LLETZ didn't come back clear and I first talked about a hysterectomy with my GP and was worried about how long I might have to wait, and she said even if I had to wait 12 months, it should be fine. I was totally gob smacked at the thought of having to wait that long. I ended up seeing a different GYN after a fibroid was found and now less than 2 months after first seeing him, here I am, recovering very well from a hysterectomy and waiting (AGAIN) for lab results on everything. The thing of it is, you need to make some noise so the doc knows you are not ok to wait that long for your treatment. Hang the statistics and all that rubbish .... what about you??? Tell them you need it taken care of sooner rather than later for the sake of your sanity and keep telling them until they listen. All the best *hugz*
Thank you for your replies I do appreciate them. I called the hospital who werent very helpful, just said that was the first appointment, that they were understaffed and very busy. I then got hold of my GP who said she had never heard of an 11 week wait before and I shouldnt be waiting that long but there wasnt anything she could do.
None of it very helpful tbh, so I have taken the somewhat drastic option and have stumped up the money to have it done privately. I just couldnt have it hanging over my head for that long. So I am booked in for this Thursday - eek!! I've spent all my time chasing this around that I havent actually considered the actual treatment!!
I think you did the right thing hula hoop, that was very fast to get in for thursday, good though and you have less time to worry about it now. The lletz isn't as bad as you might think, it's obviously uncomfortable but i found it to be just like the colposcopy only it went on a bit longer, just keep at the front of your mind why you're having it done if you get nervous, that helped me when i was finding it hard to relax. Good luck on thursday :)
thanks my lovely, will let you know how I get on! Irony is the private hospital is literally Across the road from my original nhs one!! Great they could fit me in so quickly so am pleased about that!
I totally understand not wanting to wait around for so long. It’s awful having something like that just hanging over your head and it feels like your whole life is on hold until it’s sorted. I’m glad you’ve found a way to get things done more quickly. All the best for Thursday. May your results be good and your margins be clear hugz
Sorry for being late coming to this, & suppose I’m posting in response to the comments about the time waiting for LLETZ in case anyone else is wondering…
I had about an 8 week wait from colposcopy to LLETZ, yup I worried but accepted this & could still work/function ok while waiting
All the best hula-hoop for Thursday (its really a good thing that you were able to scrape enough money together to pay for it)
sorry for the late update, I havent had any access to the internet!
I am sure a 12 week wait would have been fine, but I just was going to find it hard to cope with the mental side and was lucky enough I could stump up some cash to go privately. I in no way want to undermine the great service the NHS generally provde!
Annyway, LLETZ went well and would reiterate for all the other ladies waiting for their’s - that it really is not that bad. Yes, its not something I would love to have gone again but its def doable. Now the wait for results so fingers crossed!
Made the bf squirm yesterday but going into details about the “interesting” discharge I have!!
