Recent smear test.

I’m not sure if I’m over thinking, I had abnormal cells nearly 5 years ago but negative for HPV so no treatment required. I went for a smear test on Tuesday, nurse said I have a friable cervix. I have had spotting in between periods for a while. Ow but I never worried because it wasnt a lot. Wednesday evening I started bleeding bright red, and terrible cramps, I’m still bleeding now, definitely not due my period yet. Nurse didn’t say anything about the friable cervix, should I be asking to be tested to see what’s caused it? Is it normal to bleed this long after a smear test?

Hi, I had to google what a friable cervix was as I’ve never heard of it! It seems to be a more sensitive cervix. I know some people bleed after their smear, especially if they haven’t relaxed (I think) or if they have a small cervix. Cramps are normal my nurse said. If you’re worried ring and speak to one of the nurses and they’ll put your mind at rest xxx
