Reading test results

I was hoping someone could help me understand my results a little better. I have searched the internet and it’s a little confusing. My results from a colposcopy are as follows;

A. Endocervix, curettage: Scant strips of benign endocervical
epithelium in a background of muco-inflammatory material
B. Cervix, 11 o’clock position: Chronic active endocervicitis with
squamous metaplasia and reactive atypia. Negative for dysplasia.
C. Cervix, 7 o’clock position: Mild chronic endocervicitis with
squamous metaplasia and reactive atypia. Negative for dysplasia.

I appreciate all help. Thank you kindly.

Hello not a doctor or nurse but from the little I know I can understand that negative for dysplasia is great news as this is the ones that may become cancer in some cases not all.
So you don’t have that.
squamous metaplasia I believe is a normal thing and is not dangerous as it cannot be cancer.
Sorry this is what I understand. Maybe someone else in here can help more. But I believe is not a bad result call GP to help you understand the whole thing.
Take care

Thank you so much! I have an appointment to go over results in 10 days but of course I don’t want to wait that long.

The main thing is that you’ve got inflammation of the tissues, but not cancer. At your appointment they will discuss the next step as it will need treating, but you don’t have to worry that they’ve found cancer, because it’s benign. :slight_smile:
