Radiation burns and blisters

Hello ladies,
The skin on my back and bum has been red and sore for the past week or two following external radiation. I wasn’t expecting this but apparently it’s common!
Since my brachytherapy the skin has blistered and broken. It’s so itchy and I’m scared to touch it incase it gets infected!
Anyone have any recommendations on what to put on it? I’ve just ordered some aloe Vera gel x

I used Aveeno, as advised by my oncology team, to prevent radiation burns. As you have broken skin and blisters probably best to seek medical advice - maybe call your nurse specialist.

This sounds really horrible! Please do call your nurse specialist tomorrow - they may want it to be seen. You need to make sure you get the right thing to soothe and prevent infection. So sorry this has happened for you. I was fully expecting something skin related but was lucky and had no external effects, only the loss of pubic hair, which has grown back a different colour!! Hope you get it sorted soon and get some relief. X

I assumed the redness etc would only be on the front!
I started using Aveeno a few weeks ago to prep myself but I’ll start putting it on my back too!
Hope they’re healing up @Joix ?

They’re starting to heal now, thanks Shammy! I assumed that too, and only put my creams on my front. But the nurses told me it was quite common! Do you have a start date yet?

Well I’ve started to cream back and front from I saw your post lol, so thank you!
No start date yet… I have to hear this week as it’ll be 3 weeks this Friday. I’m going out of my mind just now. Eating for Ireland and biting the head off people. I need someone to give me a good shake.
