Pregnant after Radical Trach

Hi all,

I’ve found out today that I am around 6 weeks pregnant, I have had a very early scan and a heartbeat was detected. This is after five rounds of ivf and two miscarriages.

I’m quite frightened about how the next few months will look like for me. I wanted to know if anyone had had experience of this and whether there was anything I should/shouldn’t be doing to avoid an early labour or late term miscarriage. I am jumping the gun a bit, I know there’s a long way to go but I’d be really keen to hear any advice!!

Thanks in advance!

Dear Gem and anyone who can offer any advice,

Gem, I hope your pregnancy continues to go well. Congratulations! I am 21 weeks pregnant. I had my RT in 2008 when I was 30. I am now 41, a 'geriatric' mother!

I am having a fairly scary time with the pregnancy and keep being warned about preterm labour. The only advice I have been offered is to listen to my body (something I don't often do as there are things to do at home!). I have been signed off work (my job is an active one), cannot swim due to infections forming, cannot exercise, but can walk, and have to generally take it easy. I wonder if it is the same for anyone else? I am told that us RT pregnant women are rare still and so there is very little in the way of best practise and advice, but there seems to be a few women on here who could offer some sound advice having been through RT pregnancies.

I'd love to hear how any of you have dealt with you pregnancies and if there was anything you did as exercise that didn't harm you? I am desperate to use my muscles more than I am!

Thank you xx
