Hi. Last year I was referred for colposcopy after an abnormal smear test (HPV and low grade dyskaryosis). At the colposcopy they said the changes were very mild so no biopsy or treatment needed, have a repeat smear test in a year. I have just had the results of that to say HPV positive and again low grade changes. I have been referred back to colposcopy.
Is it likely that because the changes haven’t gone away that I will need treatment?
Hi, i think is possible they might still give you the option to monitor as it hasn’t progressed. Maybe another check in 6 months or a year as it is unlikely to have changed a huge amount in that time. Do you have an idea of how long you’ve had hpv for?
Well all of my smear tests up until last year were normal. I did have a new (unprotected) partner earlier in the year last year so I suspect from then but of course don’t really know.
