paying for HRT prescription

I’m sure this has been asked before, but it has just occurred to me that I may have to pay for ongoing HRT once my 3yr exemption runs out.
I’m 32 and gave been told I will have to take HRT until I’m 51. I had a radical hysterectomy and removal of ovaries on 6th January. I’m now wondering if there are financial implications relating to prescription charges even though I have to take HRT to lower risk of osteoporosis etc rather than through personal choice.
Could anyone please enlighten me?!
Thanks

I'm sure it's five years...mine is def five years! We will likely have to pay, but can get three months supply at a time, and that is classed as one item and therefore only one prescription charge. H x

Thanks for your reply! I've checked my exemption card and you are right, it's 5 years. I've done a bit of research on the internet and it seems like maybe it is at the GP's discretion if they deem it to be a treatment needed as a result of cancer but I will certainly mention it to my doctor when I have my 3 month check up.
