Hi, my name is Lorraine and I am totally new here.
I had a colcoscopy yesterday and two punch biopsies were taken.
Today I have really struggled with the pain, do you think it’s my fibromyalgia making things worse?
I feel like I have huge swelling down below and I ache all the way through. I couldn’t eat my dinner as sitting up made me cry in pain.
If it carries on I will contact my doctor but wondered if it was common to feel like this.
My plan was to try and forget about it until the results were back but with the pain it’s all I can think of.
The nurse already said I will need a formal cauterisation at least
The first time I had a biopsy taken (October 2014) I found it cripplingly painful - I could barely move that day or the next day. I'd also bled a lot when they took the biopsy - I noticed a lot of blood on the floor when I got out of the chair. I assumed it was normal at the time, as taking a biopsy sounds like quite a serious procedure.
The next time I had one (October 2015) I walked out of the hospital without needing to take painkillers and felt, essentially, fine - I could have gone back to work. There was almost no blood (although I had got far more used to constant spotting in the interim) and it didn't hurt.
I don't know if it's a positioning thing, as the biopsies were probably taken from different parts of my cervix but I do think the first one was done badly or at least that I should have followed it up - it's worth giving your specialist a call just to check whether it's an expected level of discomfort and I definitely would see your doctor, if nothing else you may need some prescription painkillers for awhile.
Really sorry to hear it's so painful, hope it's resolved quickly.
Thank you so much for responding. It has all settled down now. I am still aware of it and I am getting spotting but it's mostly ok
