Pain 2.5 weeks after colposcopy & biopsy

Hi all, and happy new year!

I’m new to the forum so forgive me if this has been asked before…

I had a colposcopy on 21st December which showed up a white area on the cervix so the nurse took a biopsy.
I remember she mentioned I bled quite a bit so she needed to use more silver nitrate than normal to stop the bleeding but other than that, all went fine and results are expected in 4-6 weeks.

I ended up spotting for 7 days afterwards, which apparently isn’t unusual, particularly in my case (having more silver nitrate up there) and things did eventually go back to normal.

Then 2 weeks later when the Mr and I were about to jet off on holiday to Thailand, I bled a bit after forcing a poop (sorry if tmi), and for the past 3 or 4 days I’ve been experiencing a dull aching sensation in my cervix. It’s not too painful, but noticeable and it comes and goes throughout each day.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m in Thailand now and another thing I’m unsure of is whether I can enjoy a dip in the pool or sea, as I remember the nurse saying to avoid baths until I was back to normal. Since i’m still sore, I’m worried swimming might make matters worse and cause an infection. Something I want to avoid, especially while we’re here in Thailand.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

hooe you have a fab time away, they recommend 4 weeks after a biopsy to help avoid an infection xx

Hi what kind of biopsy did you have? If you had a punch biopsy you should be fine to go swimming (approx 1 week to heal) but if you had lletz you need to wait 4-6 weeks to heal. If you dont have a temperature try and enjoy the rest of your holiday and just get yourself checked out when you get home more for peace of mind than anything.

Thank you both! x

I can't recall being told what type of biopsy it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a punch biopsy as that's how it felt and the leaflet I was given suggested a short recovery.

Maybe I've just been unlucky.

I'll maybe give it a few more days before swimming just in case, then at least if I do get any problems it's not too long away from being home.

It's just the achey pains I'm most unsure about as I can't seem to find any info online.

Hi, I realize this is an old post but did you ever find out what was wrong? I'm currently experiencing a dull achey pain in my abdomen 14 days after my colposcopy biopsy and am trying to get answers.
