New diagnosis, questions for the oncologist?

I just found out last Thursday that I have cervical cancer. I’m sure I don’t have all of the terms down yet, but it seems like I have at least stage 1A2 grade 2 squamous cell carcinoma. I had a LEEP done 2 weeks ago and it showed a depth of stromal invasion 3.0 mm at least. Apparently the exact depth couldn’t be determined due to “transection at the deep margin.” I had a PET scan on Tuesday and it was clear (no evidence of hypermetabolic metastatic disease). I’m meeting with the gynecologic oncologist tomorrow and I’m a little overwhelmed.

Are there any specific questions that I should ask the oncologist? Has anyone else had a similar diagnosis that can share their experience? I just found this forum today, and I’m trying to read some stories in my free time. I’m so glad there is a community for support with this. I’m just feeling a little lost. Thanks.

Hi llwb,
Sorry that you haven’t had any replies on this post. I can’t really offer any advice as I’m still waiting on results but I just wanted to check in on how you are doing?
Sending love and hoping things are going as well as possible for you xx

Hi Emsyb, thanks for reaching out. I’m doing okay, I think. The feelings come and go, but I’m just trying to put one foot in front of the other for now. I will have a hysterectomy sometime this year, so just hoping for an easy recovery. I hope your results come soon!
