Meet others locally in April and May

Hi Everyone,

As spring has very nearly sprung, and the sun is hopefully on it’s ways, it might be a good time to come along to one of our local support groups. At the group meetings you can meet other women in your area who have been through a cervical cancer diagnosis and have a chat over a cuppa (and a few biscuits).

Our support groups are a friendly, relaxed, and supportive environment run by trained and welcoming volunteers who have either personal or professional experience of cervical cancer. The groups are such a great way to meet other women who have been through a similar experience to you in an informal setting.  The group meetings provide reliable information, mutual support, possible coping strategies, and a place to make friends and be heard.

We are pleased to announce that our new Cornwall group will be meeting for the first time in April. To find out more about this and the other groups, please just visit http://www.jostrust.org.uk/support/support-groups and fill in the online registration form.

Here are upcoming dates for the end March, April and May. Do please check regularly as more groups will be releasing dates throughout the months.

Are there any groups in Scotland?

Hi there,

We have a support group in Glasgow and our support group leader Kathryn is just in the process of booking in some meetings for this year. If you are interested in joining the Glasgow group you can register to join by following this link - http://www.jostrust.org.uk/support/support-groups/register-for-a-support-group

You can also find out more about Kathryn and the group here - http://www.jostrust.org.uk/support/support-groups/glasgow

However if the Glasgow group is too far away for you, we also have a helpline if you would like to speak to someone directly for support and information. The helpline is run by trained volunteers who have either personal or professional experience of cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities. https://www.jostrust.org.uk/get-support/helpline

Very best wishes

Fran

Hi I'm not very good at meeting new people but would like to come to the London group. Can I bring my partner for the first one I go to.

Also were in London is it to be held? Thanks

Hi Funloving1980,

Thank you for your comment. For privacy and comfort the meetings are held for women affected by cervical cancer only as this allows ladies to speak openly with others who have had the same or similar experiences to their own. Your partner could accompany you but would not be able to go in to the meeting and would have to sit outside.

The London group meet in UCLH near Euston and are a very supportive and friendly group. If you would like to attend you can register here http://www.jostrust.org.uk/support/support-groups/register-for-a-support-group. To put you at ease one of the group leaders will contact you after you register to introduce themselves and tell you a bit more about the group.

Best wishes

Fran
