Hi all,
Not sure how to start this as first time posting, so just digging in.
*Had my first smear at 24 - CIN3 and HPV
- Had colposcopy, results confirmed
- Had cervical punch to clear the cells
- 6 months later, colposcopy said it helped but still mild abnormality
*6 months again, colposcopy says moderate abnormalities, they’ve scheduled me for a Lletz next week.
Can colposcopy’s detect cancer? Is this why they’ve rushed me straight into this?
I accept it will be painful and a traumatic experience, but I am more terrified of them finding something. I am struggling to cope, I’m sad, I’m angry and I feel alone. Everything feels so pointless. I am PMSing and due on my period the day before the Lletz, but I don’t want to push the op. I just want to know.
Has anyone had a similar journey and how are you?
Thank you for reading and all of your posts and replies on here, it helps SO much.
Hi @StarrySky
A colposcopy can detect cancer in most cases, but there isnt anything indicating thats what they think in your case, moderate changes are CIN2, if cancer is found its just as much of a surprise to them as it is to you lol it may seem fast, but once a high grade (moderate or severe) change has been confirmed its normally recommended to have the treatment within 2 weeks xx

Hey,
I’m 28 and had my lletz treatment for CIN3 yesterday. I felt exactly the same as you, more worried about finding something more sinister than the actual procedure. The lletz went well and I’m feeling much more positive now it’s done. The build up to it made me really stressed and emotional, but hopefully you get the treatment and have positive outcomes. x

Hi Amy,
Pfft I’m saddened but reassured to know I’m not alone. Well done for going through it yesterday, I hope you’re not cramping too badly today and you have all you need to be comfortable. I hope the results are okay and all onwards and upwards. x

Hey,
A few months late but I just wanted to let you know that I had a similar procedure when I was about your age, 10 years ago, and since have had a lovely healthy boy who is now 4!
I felt very lonely at the time, and shaken by the whole thing, but the nurses were so kind and everything went well.
You take care xxx
