Hysterectomy

Hi ladies

I am sorry to bother you all as  i realise a lot of you are going through so much. I wonder if any of you lovely brave ladies could give me information  and practical tips for my hysterectomy op at the end of November.

Whilst I have not been diagnosed cc  the best option to remove my  cin 3( as lletz has not worked as the lesions are difficult to get at!) is hysterectomy.

I can find very little information about this being used for cin 3 and understand many of you face this and so much more treatment. :(   Any practical tips to help me prepare for the op  would be gratefully received

Best wishes to you all

Thankyou

Kath

Hi there,

bless you - Hope you are ok after the news.  I cant comment on the hysterectomy but there will be lots of ladies who can comment on here so hope you get some informative replies soon! Has this brought a sense of relief to you (as well as being understandably nervous about surgery and all that a hysterectomy brings) - I hope it has brought you at least a little relief.

Sending love and best wishes

xx

Thanks andrea :)

I hope you are good at the moment.

Your posts have been so positive  and you most certainly have given me strengh to think 'do-able'

You are so right I am so scared but its difficult for a control freak to lose choice :(

My way of gaining control is making plans ......

Best Wishes to all

Hi Kath

I'm having my hysterectomy on Monday and feeling very anxious. I really don't know much about what to expect - all my information has come from Google searches! It's very comforting to know that there are others in the same boat - although I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Good luck hun

Hi Sarah.

I think you feel just the same as everyone else does. I had my Radical Hysterectomy 17/10/2012 and apart from a couple of days servere pain, it wan't as bad as what others made it out to be. I had a rough time during the op which took a little over 6 hours i believe, and came home 4 days later. My treatment does not appear to be over as i have an emergency app with my consultant tomorrow, but hey, i am always positive and deal with things as they come or i try to. We shall see tomorrow what my life will be dealt next.smiley

15 months to discover - diagnosed at stage 2

Thanks for all your comments ladies.

Now have a date ...26Nov !! Jeez am petrified but know it has to be done:(

Soz to fuss( when lots of you are facing more nasty treatment)

I feel i don't fit into abnormal cells section as they are normally treated with lletz( which didn't work for me)  but I also feel a fraud poting on treatment sites as i have not actually been diagnosed cc just awkward cin 3 ( yet - am realist and got fingers crossed for biopsy)

Please anyone if you wanna discuss good and bad about hysterectomy am listening:

Best wishes to everyone whatever your circumstance

Kathx

Hey hun,
Be prepared as it can be very upsetting. My hyst took 7 hours and they had damaged nerves in my lef which stopped me from walking. I couldnt sleep or eat in hospital but 4 days later I was home (horror story over) the recovery once your home is soo much better, listen to your body and sleep when it tells you and stop and relax when it tells you. I ignored my body a month later and popped my internal stitches. your body will tell you what it needs or doesnt so my biggest bit of advice is to listen. Wishing you well and hope all goes ok xx

Hi Im new to allof this !

I have two previous LLTEZ procedures sept 2011 , april 2012 for CIN3 , both of which where unsuccessful , and no clear margins.

Repeat smear done at the beggining of oct 2102 , show mild dyskarosis , repeat colposcopy , biopsies taken showed CIN3 again . Now waiting for them to have a consultants meeting next week, to decide on plan however was told by nurse specialist that she was sure that they will do a hysterectomy.

I have always said that this is what I wanted from the start of all of this , now just eager to get it all done .

Just wanted to know how everyone felt about having their surgery done before and after.

This is all  i think about and it plays on my mind constently and I feel I have no control over this whole situation.

Thank for taking the time to read this

Hi Kelly

I am new to all this too and if hysterectomy is the worst thats going to happen then I am eager to get on with it and get it over with.( Mine is booked for 26 Nov)

It all came a bit out of the blue for me after abnormal smear ( always been normal before) in September but i understand your frustration at being at mercyl of doctors decisions.

I am finding all the waiting and appointments so frustrating! I do believe I have good doctors and they have been quite swift compared to the waits I have read about on here.

Good Luck whatever they decide for you.

Kathx

Thanks Kirsty

All info good or bad helps me prepare so thanks again. Sorry you had so much pain and problems and hope you are feeling a bit better in the circumstances

All the Best

Hi Kath,
I had a radical hysterectomy last December (will yours be a radical or just the basic?) and I was fairly terrified as I had never even had a stitch before! I had the operation laparoscopically so the recovery time was really quick, although the operation took about 8 hours in total as they took out lots of lymph nodes too and were careful to spare all the nerves. I was out of hospital in two days (unfortunately I was back in 2 days later with the Norovirus but that was just unfortunate!) and other than feeling sick from the morphine, anaesthetic and antibiotics I was amazed that it was not too bad. The worst pain was from trapped wind and on day 2 I took one paracetamol and that was all I needed. So hang on in there, hopefully you will sail through it!!

Hi Kar47
I’m 5 days post-op. What really shocked me beyond belief was how old all the other ladies were on the ward. The closest in age to me was 82. It hit home hard what an awful thing I was dealing with. Please be prepared for this. I am a couple of weeks agead of you in my treatment but I’d be very happy to talk to you at any time as I know how anxious you must be feeling now your op is just a week or so away. Like you, I spent a lot of time making plans and putting things into place.

Hi, KAR47 your post sounds like what I am going through now. On fri I was told to come back next Wednesday to discuss a hysterectomy. as I understand (although not 100% sure) I have very little or no cervix left from previous lazer treatment. I'm now anxious to have a date as I'm on my own with 2 children and need to plan care. It seemed such a quick turnaround that I keep thinking they are gonna tell me bad news when I arrive. I just want it done. Know what you mean bout others having worse treatment. Just can't help but wondering what's going on and the when and whys??? Heads all over the place but reading your post makes me fell I'm not the only 1 feeling this way in same position at this time xxx
