I’ve had the results from my recent colposcopy and I’m finding them confusing.
I had my first abnormal smear last year and had a colposcopy with biopsy. That showed HPV+ with CIN1 changes. It also showed a p16 expression (not sure what this is) so I was called back in 9 months.
Had another colposcopy 9 months later which was still HPV+ and CIN1 (although quite a small area). The cytology result was normal so I’ve been discharged to my GP for a smear in 1 year.
I don’t quite understand how cytology can be normal but I have CIN1. What does this mean?
