Hi, I got a letter today saying my smear test came back and I tested positive with high risk HPV. Does anyone know what happens next?

They should schedule you for a colposcopy next
I think it will depend if they also detected any changes to the cells otherwise it will just be a repeat test in 12 months to check the hpv has gone.
Hi there sorry to hear that you got these results :( depending on if the cells are changing or not you will be asked to come back for a smear test in a years time to see if the HPV has cleared up or if their is cell changes you will be invited to a colposcopy which is a further check to the cervix using a special camera hope this helps trust me if you are invited to a colposcopy it isn’t as bad as it is made out to be and you will feel so relived in the end and so glad that you went along for routine smear tests
