Had my 6 month follow up smear and colposcopy 4 weeks ago due to having a cone biopsy in august. Results came back today as high risk hpv (positive) does this mean that the chances of getting cervical cancer are higher? Hpv is so confusing!
Unfortunately, yes. Hpv is the only cause of cc so if you test positive there is still a chance that abnormal cells will return..
Thank you. Its so worrying they want me to go back in 12 months, i would of thought if its high risk then that would need closer monitoring x
II'm sure everything will be fine but I would push for a 6 month follow ups for the next year and then every year there after!
