I am brand new to this forum, but I’m so pleased it exists as I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed but at the same time, a little in disbelief.
I had a cervical screening test just after I got married in 2017. The results came back ‘HPV positive and borderline abnormal cell changes’ so I was referred to Colposcopy, had a biopsy taken and the results said no further action was needed. Brilliant!
Since then I went on to have 2 healthy pregnancies and 2 beautiful children.
My most recent cervical screening test was due whilst I was pregnant with my youngest child. As soon as I had given birth I booked in for my cervical screening as I know how important this is. My nurse told me I had to be 12 weeks postpartum, so I waited. Went for the screening and my results came back last week as ‘HPV positive & high grade (severe) dyskaryosis‘ so again I have been referred for colposcopy which is booked in for tomorrow.
I am a lot more nervous this time around with having 2 little ones and my health just seeming to be a lot more important.
Also with the results sounding so scary and the thought of having HPV for the past 4 years If the virus has lived in my body attacking my cells for this long, should I be prepared for bad news? Or is this a common thing?
I was also sent a leaflet about LEEP so I’m guessing that my abnormal cells will have to be removed tomorrow at my colposcopy?
When googling symptoms of cervical cancer as you do, thinking the worst the only symptoms I have are a painful pelvis. But this could be down to 2 pregnancies and still recovering from giving birth 6 months ago.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read. Any advice would be much appreciated
