Has anyone got HPV and is also on HRT? I’d be interested to hear from you if so!
I wss diagnosed with high and low risk HPV last year. I was having erratic periods at the time and around that time diagnosed with early menopause. My oestrogen was swinging from low to high.
I got rid of the genital warts but they reappeared for a few months but they reappeared soon after started applying oestrogen cream.
I’ve read that peristent hpv is significantly more common among women who are on oral contraceptives - likely because of higher oestrogen. I’m worried about taking hrt/oestrogen while I’ve still got HPV. My GP did not know the answer to this.
I am 59 and have had HPV for 5 years. Abnormal cells. I take HRT and have never had genital warts. I don’t believe the HRT has made mine any worse. I also have started taking the supplements AHCC along with several other immune boosting and anti aging supplements. My last smear came back with no HPV. I’m not going to hold my breath but I hope the supplements are working.
Don’t give up trying different things. I never even heard of AHCC until I found this site. It’s not cheap but if it works I’ll keep it up. Hopefully one day they’ll find a cure. My other concern was throat cancer caused by HPV My mom died of it.
I’m not 100% sure I had it prior to HRT. My paps all came back normal up till a bout 5yrs ago. At that point I was past menopause , but I was told that. Could have had the virus and it was just dormant. I sure hope that’s the case because I’d be asking my husband a lot of questions. I hope you get the answers you need. Good luck.
Hello there, I’ve been diagnosed with HPV two years ago (thankfully no cell changes) and on HRT (Femoston tablets) four years ago. The menses are eratic but thankfully few last months are a bit more stable which I am interpreting as a good omen.
I don’t think there is any link in my opinion. I’m on HRT since before and after having treatment for CC. My estrogen levels now are much lower than they were prior to starting. It’s more to balance your estrogen or give you some when you don’t have any. Estrogen can fluctuate massively during a regular cycle.
My gp said oestrogen boosts the immune system (which is why older women cope less well with Covid) but some cancers have been linked to higher levels of oestrogen.
In my case, hpv warts appeared then later the same month as I got a very surprising leg infection from a tiny cut. That was the first month my menstrual cycle was very short. The warts went then a few months later, I started oestrogen cream and the warts reappeared but only where I applied the cream. I think in my case there’s some relationship between my hormones and hpv emergence (I tested negative the previous year). I can’t stop hrt because it has massively improved my moods but I’m desperate to get rid of the hpv and I’m uncertain about using topical oestrogen now.
