I had a smear in mid June and received the results letter at the end of July, and was advised that I they had found high-risk HPV and changes in the cells in my cervix.
The letter also said that I would receive an appointment letter within eight weeks.
I received another letter today that advised me of increased waiting times and informed me that the new wait time is 30 WEEKS.
I understand the knock-on effect of COVID, and this isn’t a complaint about that.
My question / concern is that an increase from 2 months wait to over six months is quite a lot of time - how worried should I be about what could happen in six months? How quickly does a routine examination / preventative treatment become a more serious issue?
