Discharge after chemo and radiation

Hi all, 

About 3 weeks ago, I completed my chemo and radiation treatment for stage 1b2 cervical cancer. My doctor thinks it went really well, and my tumor shrank to practically nothing. 

I know that discharge is normal during treatment, but 3 weeks later, it's still happening. I have an appointment with my doctor at the end of the month, but would like to know if anyone else has experienced this?

Hi Hon. Yes this is normal...the tissues are really irritated during treatment and it is like the top layer becomes liquid and comes away! You can get quite sore as well. It is quite common to get a bit of a bacterial infection also, so a trip to the nurse for a simple swab can rule that out. The treatment carries on working for a while also, so it can carry on for a bit. Good luck, h xxx
