Cold coagulation - worst pain ever!

I had the cold coagulation procedure on my cervix yesterday and I did not receive local anaesthetic and it was the most pain I had ever been in, in my entire life (and I burnt over 1% of my leg with boiling hot water a few years back!). I was told to take paracetamol half an hour before my procedure. The pain was so intense that I passed out, felt incredibly sick and was sweating buckets.

I was reading on this website that cold coagulation is done with local anaesthetic. Why was I not offered this? Do I have grounds to complain?

Quite honestly it felt like torture and felt extremely inhumane and I am quite traumatised by the whole thing. Why are we expected to put up with the pain when pain relief is readily available?

If anyone is having this procedure done please ask for pain relief/local anesthetic because it was horrific.

I’d love to hear other people’s opinions x

You must have local anaesthetic for this procedure. Please raise a complaint.
