Hi… I’ve just had letter today to confirm smear is high grade severe …colposcopy apt needed. I don’t know what to think. I’m guessing I’ll need treatment. I wanted to ask did anyone have like a throbbing pain in the cervix prior to finding out. I always felt something was wrong.
Hello!! We are actually the same… I just found out as well and it was not even through the proper letter but only through online access of test results by my GP. It mentuoned that I was referred for colposcopy but I don’t know when and how long will I have to wait. With regards to the pain you have mentioned… I don’t have that experience… Only having loads of whitish discharge from below.
I called GP and they referred me to hospital to call. They said they want me in next week. So may be worth you calling to see. They haven’t sent letter yet but may have it scheduled for you. I also asked to see a lady nurse.
Ohh thank you for that info. I called the GP earlier as well but put me off to speak to one of their nurses on friday as no sched available today and tom. Good thing they put you in as early as next week. X
Hello again… I called the hosp and true enough they want me in next tuesday as well. Thank you Lord. Thank you to you as well. I hope everything will go well with us and I hope to talk and update with you afterwards. xxx
Just want to reassure you that CIN3 is not cancer, and you will not have any pain because of this. Fortunately it is highly treatable, and involves removing the abnormal cells before they can develop into a cancer. Even cancer will probably give no pain; only if the tumour is blocking or interfering with something else. The nature of cervical abnormalities and cancer is that it sneaks up on you - which is why having smear tests is so important.
Wishing you ladies all the best for your procedures, which I hope are completely successful. X
That’s positive… have you been to one before? I’ve had 2 in the past.
Thank you so much… Means a lot! I am trying to hold it all together as i just had postpartum depression and now this. It is just so sad and diaheartening.
Not yet. This would be my first. I had positive hpv with no abnormal cell changes last year. Did you have any treatment during the last 2 you have had if you don’t mind me asking? x
Hi… no treatment. I should have asked so many more questions but didn’t and really if getting abnormalities why no treatment. They checked samples and I guess did what was necessary at the time. I think the gap between smears is too long. I always have. ESP when you have been confirmed to have HPV. Most women have it too apparently. I was so glad to get in and out. I had the dye check and you see cervix on screen. Read leaflet carefully when you get it. If squeamish around a male doing the procedure ask for female. It isn’t very long when in…but I agree. Seeing words severe threw me. You’ve got this. … get in, get checked and ready for next step when results come. I spoke to nurse and she said depending on what see may do the ring wire treatment when in there. They said results take up to 6 weeks
I agree… Why no treatment when there is already an abnormality. We should be monitored every 6 months as well in my opinion. It is again another waiting game then from the test to the result. I can’t wait to have it done and then removed. I would definitely go and have it done today if they said so.
The “severe” and “high grade” almost gave me a heart attack. I felt my body getting cold, then numb, then shaking.
Hi i went through same situation as you I have the all clear the stage 3 means pre cancerous. I have to wait til December for my smeer to clear any questions ask away
Did you have the LLETZ on the first visit?
No I had a colposcopy and opted for lletz under general as would find it too uncomfortable and I had my lletzz 3 weeks after
I go wed and my anxiety is through the roof. Does the treatment hurt then without general
Hello Maz… I just had my appointment and had the treatment as well. I didn’t feel the needle when they put the local anesthesia in. I think i was in there for 20min or so then got out right away.
Thanks for letting me know. What treatment did you have?
It was the LEEP. They took all the abnormal cells out.
That’s so good. I bet you are glad it’s all done. Now they need to check you regularly.
