Hi I'm very worried about my daughter , she had lletz on Monday for cgin after biopsy but I'm so worried the lletz will come back as cancer, I did see one success story on here but couldn't seem to reply ,it seems the odds are against you with cgin, best wishes
Hi Mabel,
GCIN is not cancer, are abnormal cells that can be developed to cancerous if they left untreated. It is very positive the fact that the doc detected it early and she has the option for lletz treatment. As the smear test is not so effective for GCIN. I had all my life negative smears and when it came positive I was diagnosed with 2B adenocarcinoma and I didn't miss a smear test in the past. I know it is difficult what you are being through but your daughter probably is more scarred than you are. For me at least it was more difficult to see my family to be in pain due to my condition than the actual disease. Even if it is cancer it is treatable for my case the doc gave me 90% probability to be cured. Hope all the best for your daughter.

Hi Mabel,
I did respond to your post on my post 'CGIN My Experience' but not sure if you've seen it. I can't tell you what your daughters LLETZ result will be but I can tell you that only 6% of CGIN turns into cancer. Additionally it can take 5 to 10 years to develop into cancer so if she has been having frequent smears the chances of it actually being cancer are slim. She may or may not need further treatment and they will take into consideration whether or not she has completed her family when deciding on a management plan. If you have any questions please do ask xx
Thankyou for your reply I hope your next treatment is successful. I think I read to much and lots of sites say cgin often leads to hysterectomy. I'm hoping she will get her results back soon from lletz
Hi Mabel
It sounds as though you are having an anxious time worrying about your daughter; I can recommend Jo's helpline if you need someone to talk to who will be able to help you with understanding more about CGIN and lletz. The helpline is not normally open on a Sunday but you could try the MacMillan helpline which is open on a Sunday - they have an Ask the nurse helpline and will also be able to advise you on supporting your daughter through this. As KultKoala says CGIN is most probably not cancer - I know it's difficult not to worry and waiting for results is hard. There is an Ask the expert service on here but they may take a few days to reply. The Eve Appeal also has an Ask the nurse service. Remember the screening programme is all about prevention and catching and treating cell changes early. I hope you will feel better when the results come through and you have more facts. Big hugs A x
Thankyou I'm worried the lletz histology results will come Back as cancer after the biopsy results were cgin, her colposcopy lady seemed positive and said she would monitor her every 6 months which is great
Hi Mabel
Be assured the colposcopists will be very thorough and whatever results the lletz show they will make sure she has the correct treatment. Just a word of advice; try to stay off google!! Stick to the NHS website/app and reputable websites like this one, CRUK, MacMillan and The Eve Appeal. No amount of worrying will change the histology. Most people feel better when they have facts and a treatment plan. Many people on here have had to become experts on managing anxiety - I would imagine your daughter is feeling pretty anxious too. Some people find it helps to keep busy to get through the waiting and worrying. I found it best to try not to think too far ahead and take things one step at a time. Easier said than done I know. I hope this helps

Hi Mabel,
You haven't mentioned whether your daughter has completed her family. CGIN will often lead to hysterectomy and that used to be the only treatment offered. However they now manage it more conservatively if you want children/more children. If you have completed your family they will push for hysterectomy which is why you often see this as a result. Myself, I would have the option of having no further treatment except for 3/6 monthly monitoring, trying for a child and having a hysterectomy further down the line. I am opting to go for clear margins. This increases my pre term birth risk but it's my preferred option all things considered. Your daughter may be different.
Hi she doesnt want any more has twins 9 months old , i have fingers crossed lletz is successful but hysterectomy not end of the world , i wish you all the best xx
Daughter had a call today from colposcopy lady , going to MDT tommorow as a matter of course but she has seen report and all area has been successfully removed . The lady will look after her now and do the smear herself in 6 months so she will be very carefully monitored . Think we have been very lucky in having a great real caring coloscopy team . Fingers crossed for everyone on here stay safe x
Hi Mabel
That sounds like great news; you must be feeling very relieved!
Big hugs
