So back in March I had my 3rd yearly smear that showed hpv but no cell changes. Today I had my colposcopy and the lady said there were viral cell changes so she took a biopsy.
Ive not heard the term viral cell changes before. What do you think the next steps will likely be? Thank you x
My understanding is that if th cell changes come back cin2-3 from biopsy there is a lletz but this will be dependent on your personal circumstances such as age and desire for children and your own personal medical history. This is what happened to me. I had a lletz. I understand it is then tested to see if there are clear margins following the first lletz and you find out the results around 4 weeks post lletz.
If it’s clear most likely you go back to 6 or 12 month check ups. No clear margins can mean further treatment or a plan for managing is put in place.

Thank you for replying. I’m 36 with 4 children so thankfully I am done with that. I think I was just expecting to have to colposcopy and them say all is OK as no cell changes detected on my smear so I wasn’t really prepared to ask anything. Just need to put it to the back of my mind now and wait.
Was the lletz painful? I’m such a baby haha
I didn’t feel a thing as they tend to give you local anaesthetic
