Biopsy showed severe changes

Hi all, 

I had colpscopy a few weeks ago and doc said she couldn't treat there and then as it the cells covered my entire cervix and were quite deep so took biopsys, I've just had a letter stating my biopsy results are showing severe changes that will need treatment and this doesn't correlate to my smear results and is to be discussed at the specialist team meeting, can anyone shed any light on what this actually means?

My colposcopy showed severe changes of the CIN3 variety that couldn't be treated on the day. The next step for me was to have a LLETZ procedure to remove the dodgy tissue. Something similar could be in your future although obviously I am not your doctor so I'm only sharing my personal experience. Severe changes doesn't necessarily mean cancer either.
