I am 2 weeks post LLETZ and have an infection as was CIN 3 for the 2nd time in a year. I have discussed the possibility of having a hysterectomy with my consultant as I am getting married in summer and don’t want to keep having LLETZ every 6 months only for the cells to be returning… its really taken over my life. I have a 10 year old daughter and cant imagine having any more kids, although the thought the option will no longer be there is sad.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice who has had or are scheduled to have a hysterectomy ? How long were you waiting for the op and how long were you in Hospital? Was it by choice or was it recommended to you?
Hi tainsty, I am awaiting for my op scheduled for the 25/11, as I have had all my children surgery was my only option. I had my Lletz on the 23/9, call to say unclear margins a week later (staged 1b1) and each week after another appointment with the surgeon, MRI, back to surgeon. I would have had the surgery sooner but the surgeon went on paternity leave on the 31/10. From what I have been told the stay in the hospital is about a day or 2, no hanging around and the recovery is about 6 weeks. I was told no driving for 6 weeks and not to lift anything heavier than a handbag. I have been reading on here this morning about recovery journeys and tbh it has been a little mixed. I think I am just going to go with the flow and rest as hard as it will be the body needs time to heal which means rest. If they are recommended surgery if it were me I would have it done sooner rather than later so you don't have that worry hanging over you and you can enjoy your wedding.
Thank you so much for the reply it's nice to hear someone elses experiences! Since my oncologist is not ruling it out and after my LLETZ sais he would be happy to do it and has booked me an face to face appontent for my results, i think its perobably on the cards. I have made my peace with it now and just want to look forward to my wedding and married life. I really wish you the best of luck with your operation and recovery, feel free to message me if you ever feel like chatting x
Thank you. You have so much to look forward to, I would just keep focused on planning your big day and looking forward to it. My focus is xmas shopping, my fav time of the year. Hopefully I will be physically in a good place for the 25th!
