Anxiety is crippling me

I have not had regular smears and now have a abnormal low grade smear. I am booked for my colposcopy on the 29th but it feels so far away. I keep thinking on past issues i had with discharge and wonder if I have CC. I have not been sleeping and had two days of diaherra from the anxiety. I also woke with nightmares the other night. The anxiety is driving me insane and my constant need to google things is not helping. Hopefully the 29th will come pretty fast. However, if anyone can give me tips on how to manage my anxiety, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi

Sorry to hear you are feeling so anxious. Have you tried calling the colposcopy department to tell them how anxious you are and asking them to bring forward your appointment?

Just to let you know 4 years ago I received an abnormal smear and was positive for hpv. I was absolutely terrified  I attended colposcopy and had lletz treatment which removed the cells and honestly its over in no time. 3 weeks ago I received a letter to tell me I have high grade severe dyskaryosis, I attended hospital for biopsy and they have now decided they would like me to have treatment again so I'm booked in for lletz tomorrow. I'm always anxious but really looking forward to getting it over with.

I know how it feels to be as anxious as you. I couldn't eat or sleep properly when I got the letters.

I know it's hard but just don't Google things. That's what I did and arrived to my appointment in tears I was so anxious.

I would really advise calling them and explaining how anxious you are, see if they will get you in sooner so that your mind can be at rest.

Thinking of you xx

Thanks for sharing your story.

I started my period on friday so they wanted to wait until my period was safely over to do colopscopy. What is funny is that my periods are usually normal but this one I am barely bleeding. No clots nothing. Not sure whether its from the anxiety or what. I am also having back pain and pain in leg during this period. I may go back to my doctor tomorrow and tell him all that's  going on and see what he says.

I hope everything goes well with you. :)

I am feeling exactly how you are anxiety is kicking in big time. I attended my first smear on the 16th and she found a lump. She booked me in to see the doctor the following Thursday but I was that anxious & upset she managed to get me in the following day. I have now been referred to colonoscopy and im awaiting a phonecall this week. I have 0 symptoms but obviously assuming the worst. I have a 1 & 2 yr old which luckily keep me busy and my mind off it but then night time comes around and my mind takes over.

Give colonoscopy a call and see if they have any cancellations for you to get in sooner and explain your anxieties. I hope everything goes okay xx

I think it's likely you have been feeling so stressed out it has affected your period.

Before each appointment I have phoned the colposcopy department and spoken with a nurse who really put my mind at rest. Maybe you should call them and speak to the nurse and also your doctor if you are concerned.

Thankyou, I'm looking forward to tomorrow evening knowing its all over.

Hope you feel better soon xx
