Abnormal bleeding - advice please!

Hi all

Apologies if i'm posting in the wrong forum - just looking to hear about other peoples experiences / advice relating to my own.

For the last couple of weeks, I've been experiencing abnormal bleeding. It started as brown discharge for 3 days then nothing for another 4 days. Now I'm experiencing bleeding / blood clots whilst urinating and intermittently throughout the day. I was also awakened last night with a dull ache in my pelvic area. I've been experiencing lower back pain for a number or weeks and had a dizzy spell one day at work last week. I exercise a lot & appreciate the back pain might be totally unrelated (likely muscular / poor posture).

To give you some context, I've had the implant for almost 10 years (3rd one now). My periods stopped fairly quickly & I haven't had a period for around 9 years. I also had an abnormal smear in September 2018 and  received LLETZ procedure to remove abnormal cells. Follow up smear was clear.

Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Is this something worth consulting my doctor about? I've tried to source information online however, it all seems to relate to menstruation and as mentioned, my periods stopped years ago.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Emma

Regardless of one's smear history, it's important to get any abnormal vaginal discharges and or bleeding checked out by your doctor - so defo make an appointment.  There could be a number of reasons for your symptoms and you need a comprehensive assessment.

Hi Jazza,

Thank you for your reply, much appreciated! Today has been the worst day so far in terms of bleeding so I probably should make an appointment. I just hope I don't get fobbed off.

Hi Emma

Hopefully you won't have any problem getting an appointment.  But if by any chance they try to fob you off  then I would suggest trying again a bit later in the day or you could call 111.

May I ask the outcome of this? I am having similar brown discharge... has happened occasionally in last 3 months, but is now constant :( so worrying.
I hope all was ok for you x
